What is Open Sign-Up?
The first step to managing your Logos licenses is to add users to your institution. This normally involves manually entering user information or bulk importing a list of users into the license Admin Portal. Open Sign-up makes it possible for the users at your institution to add themselves through a URL or QR code. Once added, you can either manually assign libraries and subscriptions or have them auto-assign to new users (see below).
How to Enable Open Sign-Up
First, you will need to contact your Customer Success Manager to enable Open Sign-Up. If you aren't sure who to contact, send an email to HigherEdSuccess@logos.com.
Once Open Sign-Up is enabled, your institution's license claim URL or QR code will no longer initiate the content claim process. Instead, users will be invited to join your institution by either creating or signing in to a Logos account.
You can monitor and remove unwanted users under the "Users" tab for your institution in the license Admin Portal.
What are Auto-Assigning Libraries/Subscriptions?
Your libraries and subscriptions can be set to Auto-Assign to any new users who are added to your institution in the license Admin Portal. For example, you may want everyone who is added to get access to your institution's Logos subscription. You can either manually add new users or allow them to add themselves using Open Sign-Up (above). Once they are added, the subscription will be unlocked or assigned to them and the claim process will be initiated.
Any users who were added to your institution before auto-assign was enabled will need to have the library or subscription manually assigned by your admin.
How to Enable Auto-Assign for a Library/Subscription
You will need to contact your Customer Success Manager to enable Auto-Assign for a library or subscription. If you aren't sure who to contact, send an email to HigherEdSuccess@logos.com.
Keep in mind that you can set multiple libraries and/or subscriptions to Auto-Assign, but any library or subscription set to Auto-Assign will be distributed to all new users added to your institution in the license Admin Portal until auto-assign is deactivated. The auto-assign process will grant temporary access to these libraries or subscriptions.
You can monitor who has access to your libraries and/or subscription in the license Admin Portal. There you will have the ability to revoke access, grant permanent access, and more. For more details, see "License Management with the Admin Portal."
