When studying a biblical passage in an original language, you probably have books and tools you always want access to in a layout that works for you. The Get Started Tool provides exactly this to get you into your study quickly and easily. It offers a consistent way to examine the biblical text, access relevant lexicons, and consult linked commentaries. Click Original language in the Get Started Tool and enter a Bible passage.
The starting point - in the panels on the top left - is the biblical text. The tool opens two or three Bibles to the specified reference:
- Your highest prioritized original language Bible
- If the original language is Hebrew, then your highest prioritized Septuagint text is opened as well
- Your highest prioritized Bible in the language of the user interface you are using
These three are linked together, providing a range of different perspectives into the text.
Beneath the Bibles are your two highest prioritised lexicons – relevant to the language of the passage you are studying – showing the entry for the first significant lemma in the passage specified. These lexicons are linked to the biblical text - which means that clicking a word in the text will update the lexicons to show matching articles.
To the right of these are your two highest prioritised commentaries on the text providing you direct access to reflections and insight on the passage.
On the right you'll find the help file open an entry on your particular layout. When you're done reading it, close the panel to increase the screen real estate available for the layout's tools.
