If you’re reading this, you’re probably invested in being able to read your Bible, and you’d like to use Logos to facilitate your Bible reading and Bible study in some way. You might think that wouldn’t need any instruction. Opening your Bible and reading it is a simple task in Logos. But it’s worth taking some time to learn about how Logos helps you do more with your Bible.

Open a Bible
Logos is Bible study software, and there are literally dozens of different ways you can get to your Bible. Here are a few key ways you’ll use to open your Bible to a specific place.

Click the Bible icon
. When you click the Bible icon on the main toolbar, Logos opens your Top Bible to the most recently opened passage.

Open the Personal Study Layout. The Dashboard's Get Started section features quick access to prebuilt layouts to help you dive into Logos in moments. When you click Personal Study and enter a passage or biblical topic, Logos opens your Top Bible alongside other helpful tools and resources.

Enter a reference in the Command Box. In the autocomplete box that appears, select Go to [the passage you entered] in preferred Bible. Your Bible will open to the passage that you input. Remember, you can click and drag your Bible resource panel to resize and move it to a configuration that works best for you.
Set Your Top Bible
Your top (or “default”) Bible is the Bible version that Logos will open when you open a Bible using the Command Box, a layout, and every other time you perform an action that opens a Bible in Logos. You probably set this when you installed Logos initially, but to set or change your Top Bible, use the Top Bible card in the Get Started section of the Dashboard.
If you've dismissed the card, or it's not appearing for any reason, you can also find your Bible in the Library, right-click it, then select Prioritize this Book. A prioritization panel will appear, with your selected Bible version at the top.
That’s it! The Bible you selected will become the default Bible throughout Logos.

Navigate within a Bible
Once you have your Bible open, you have several different ways to navigate it. You can scroll using the up and down arrow keys, or using your mouse. You can also use the following:
- The reference box displays your current reference
- Toggle the Table of Contents on and off by selecting
Contents from the Home tab in the dynamic toolbar. Click a chapter to navigate to it.
- The history navigation icons
to the left of the reference box allow you to navigate back to a previous location and back again.
- The article navigation icons
on the Home tab allow you to navigate to the next or previous article, books, chapter, verse, etc.
- The Locator Bar provides additional tools for navigating your Bible. (If you don’t see it, open the View tab and click
Locator Bar.)
Change How Your Bible is Displayed
Customizing the appearance and layout of your digital Bibles allows you to see the text in fresh ways, and Logos makes it easy to create the look that suits your purposes.
