Desktop
Logos Cloud refers to the online infrastructure that stores your entire digital library and user data (notes, highlights, layouts, etc.), allowing you to use Logos seamlessly across multiple devices and reserve the limited storage space on your device for your most-used books.
Cloud books provide limited functionality within Logos. Download these books for complete functionality, but you can still preview the content from your cloud books.
Your first exposure to cloud books may occur when doing a fresh installation of Logos or signing into an account on your device for the first time.
When you initiate either of these processes, Logos will display a new configuration screen allowing you to select sets of books to download before the software opens for the first time. Your options include:
-
Minimal Download: includes datasets and a few books.
-
Quick Download: includes all items from the Minimal option plus a curated list of books in your Library and any books you have added to your prioritized books list.
-
Full Download: includes all books in your Library.
Each option will provide an estimated install size to help determine which set to download. Through your Library, you can always download books that weren’t included in the book set you selected.
The download time depends on the size of the book set you have selected and the speed of your internet connection. Once the books have been downloaded, your local installation of Logos will be ready to use.
To view Cloud books in your Library:
-
Open the Library.
-
Display your books in Tile View to reveal the cloud icon
next to books that are not stored on your device.
-
Filter your Library to display only those books that are not locally stored by clicking the Sidebar
and expanding the Devices filter to reveal the Not on this device facet. Now all results displayed are those that are only stored in the cloud.
Download your most-used books from the cloud to your device for full, fast access.
You can download books by clicking the download icon for each individual title, or you can download multiple books at one time.
-
Open the Library.
-
Filter your Library to display only books that are not locally stored by clicking the Sidebar icon
.
-
Expand the Devices filter.
-
Click Not on This Device.
-
Select the book(s) to download and repeat one of the options described above (using the Library Context Menu, Library Sidebar, or Book Information pane).
Note
Note: To select and download all of your cloud books, click one of the books in the list. Press Cmd+A (macOS) or Ctrl+A (Windows). Then right-click and select Download.
-
Click Download.
You can control whether Logos downloads new books automatically or stores them in the cloud through Program Settings. The setting to Download New Books is found in the Internet section and is set to Yes by default.
If you want to remove a large number of books at one time, filtering the Library to just show those books can be really helpful.
Select the book(s) you want to remove to the cloud by clicking near, but not on, the book title. If you want to remove multiple books at the same time, select one and then:
-
Use Shift+Click on another book to select that book and all those in between
-
Use Ctrl/Cmd+Click on another book to add that to the selection
-
Use Ctrl/Cmd+A to select all currently filtered books
Then to remove books, you can:
-
Right-click the selected book (or one of the selected books) and select the Remove from device option
-
Click the arrow next to the Downloaded status indicator in the Information pane and select Remove from device
-
Remove the book(s) using the action menu if you have Tile view selected
Note
Note: While removing a book deletes the file from the hard drive, it does not delete it from the Library Index. To reclaim hard drive space from the Index after removing a large number of books, type rebuild index in the command box. This may take some time depending on the size of your library.
Mobile
All of the books in your Logos library are stored in the cloud and available via the Logos mobile app. You can download individual books to make them available on your mobile device even without wifi or a data connection.
Downloaded books are no longer streamed from the cloud and will use up space on your device. The amount of space varies by book.
