You can easily control whether panels in Logos scroll together or independently using Link Sets. Assign two or more resources to the same link set, or assign tools to follow an open resource. Link Sets allow you to stay on the same page across all your study materials, saving you valuable time.
Note: This feature is available to all users.
Get Started
- Open two or more resources. (For example, a Bible and a whole-bible commentary.)
- Under the Home tab in each resource's Dynamic Toolbar, click Link Set and choose the same letter for both resources.
Note: When linking a resource to something like a tool or guide in which the panel does not have a Dynamic Toolbar, Link Set controls are found in that panel's More Actions Menu. Some tools, such as Power Lookup, can be set to Follow your active resource. Click in the resource you want to follow, then click the More Actions Menu icon
in Power Lookup (or other tool) and select Follow.
Other Link Set Applications
- You can link lexicons or encyclopedias together. When possible, these will follow each other by showing listings for the same words.
- You can link a search panel and a Bible with reverse-interlinear functionality (e.g., ESV). As you click words or phrases in the Bible, the search panel will conduct searches for your currently displayed search tab.
- You can link Bibles to lexicons. As you click different words in the Bible, this will update the lexicon entry (assuming it has an entry for that word).
- Linking a Bible to a Passage Guide or Exegetical Guide will update the guide as you move through the Bible.
- Linking a Bible to a Bible Word Study Guide will update the word being studied in the Guide as you click on different words in the Bible.
- You can include a multi-volume commentary series in a Link Set. As you move between biblical books, different commentary volumes will be swapped in. (To do so, open any volume in the commentary series and add it to the Link Set.)
- Link a Bible with a tool, like Passage Analysis, or the Timeline tool, or the Atlas tool.
Note: Some of the features outlined above require either an Original Language Bible or a Bible with reverse-interlinear functionality.
Remove a Link Set
You can remove any resource from a Link Set by navigating to the Home tab of that resource's Dynamic Toolbar, clicking Link Set, and selecting None. You can also clear all Link Sets with one click by selecting Clear links in all open panels.
Note: Logos will remember Link Sets only when they are saved as part of a layout. Otherwise, closing a resource panel or exiting Logos will remove any existing Link Sets. You can recover Link Sets by loading a Layout snapshot.
Linking tabs in the Logos mobile app causes them to scroll in sync. This is helpful if you want to toggle between a Bible and study Bible or commentary. You can have multiple linked resources based on the layout you choose.
Link Tabs
Note: On tablets, you can have up to four tabs on a screen and on phones you can have two. The process for linking is slightly different on the different device types.
Link two or more tabs together by assigning them to the same Link Set.
From the More Actions Menu
You can set any tab to a Link Set from the More Actions Menu .
From the Tabs View
- Tap the tabs icon
at the bottom of the screen.
- Link tabs by tapping the link icon
under each resource title. Notice that you can create multiple Link Sets (A, B, and C). All books linked to the A set, for example, will stay in sync across all panels.
Note: Get more help with working with mobile Layouts.
Follow Only
Set a resource to follow only, so that moving in one will move the other, but not the other way around. For example, link a commentary and Bible to Follow only so that navigating in your commentary won’t move your Bible.
- Follow the instructions above for linking a resource.
- Tap Follow only.
Use Layouts and Link Sets together to have multiple resources all working together across panels on your mobile device. Click here to learn more about Layouts.
