Interlinear Bibles are a valuable tool for learning and studying the original language text of the Bible. There are two types of interlinear Bibles available in Logos:
- Traditional interlinear Bibles are based on the original language text and display English equivalents to help with translation work.
- Reverse interlinear Bibles display an English translation with the corresponding Greek and Hebrew words placed below (and out of their original order).
Note: Interlinear information is not available in every resource. The resource must be a translation and contain reverse-interlinear data. This is usually indicated in the title of the resource. You can find more information about reverse-interlinear data in a resource using the Information panel in your Library.
You can access interlinear information in two different ways: in line with the text of the resource or in a pane at the bottom of the resource.
Inline Interlinear
- Open an interlinear-enabled Bible.
- Click the Interlinear icon in the resource panel toolbar.
- Click the arrow beside the Interlinear icon and check the box beside Inline Reverse Interlinear.
- Click the arrow beside Inline to expand the menu. Select the interlinear information you want to display.
Note: The Surface box refers to the text of the (usually) English translation. The remaining options refer to the Hebrew or Greek source text.
Interlinear Pane
- Open an interlinear-enabled resource.
- Click the Interlinear icon in the resource panel toolbar.
- Click the arrow beside the Interlinear icon and check the box beside Reverse Interlinear Pane. A pane displaying interlinear information will appear at the bottom of the panel.
- Customize the displayed interlinear information by right-clicking in the left column of the pane and selecting the information you want to view.
The top line displays the text of your open Bible. The pane will update as you scroll, and selecting a word in your Bible highlights it in the interlinear pane. You can also click and drag the interlinear pane left and right to a desired location.
