Using the Scan Command
There are various reasons why you may want to scan resources into Logos Bible Software such as:
- Adding resources distributed in Libronix Digital Library System (LDLS) or Logos Library System (LLS) formats
- While neither LDLS or LLS are supported anymore, those resources are compatible with the current Logos Bible Software product and can be scanned into it
- Adding Logos resources you have on one computer onto another computer you use to run Logos
- This might be required if you are installing Logos on a new computer and want to avoid downloading all your resources again or if you want to add Personal Books onto another system
- You do this on an entire folder as opposed to specifying individual files
Scanning LDLS or LLS files
Activate your Product
If this is a new product that you have not used in LDLS, please sign in to Logos.com and navigate here to activate your new product. You will need a Redemption Code to do this.
If this is an old product that you have previously used in LDLS using the same account, you can skip this step.
Scan a Disc
- Insert your LDLS or LLS Product CD-Rom
- Open the Command box
- Type a Scan command into the Command box
- On Windows, you can use either Scan dvd or Scan E:\ (or whatever drive letter corresponds to your CD/DVD drive)
- On Mac, use the command Scan Optical Media
- Your CD/DVD Drive will be listed. Select it. (Example: "Scan E:\")
This should cause Logos to scan in any LDLS or LLS resource files from your optical drive.
Scan a Folder
To scan a folder made up of owned resources from a different machine follow the instructions below.
Windows
- Open the Command box
- Enter the command scan and the pathname of the folder containing the Logos resources
- Select the corresponding option from the dropdown menu
Mac
- Open the Command box
- Type scan /Users/ and the rest of the path to where the Logos resources are
- Select the corresponding option from the dropdown menu
Tip: If the any term in the path is incorrect, the path will not appear under the word Tools below the Command/Enter passage or Search box. Verify the path and try again.
At this point, Logos should start adding any Logos resources in that folder into your library. This may take several minutes, depending on the amount of data to be scanned. Once complete, your books should be available in the Library. You may wish to repeat these steps with any additional LDLS products you own, if they are not already visible in the Library.
