When opening a panel in Logos, you may receive the following message:
"Logos Bible Software has stopped working"
May also occur for "Logos Bible Software Indexer"
This is a generic response from Windows and does not provide much actionable data, although sometimes the "LogosCrash.txt" will provide enough information to know what the problem is.
Finding the LogosCrash.txt File
- Click the Start menu in the bottom left-hand corner of your computer screen.
- Type "libraries" into the search bar and click "libraries" at the top.
- Open the Documents folder.
- Open the folder named "Logos Log Files."
- Open the file named "LogosCrash.txt."
You may see the following in the crash report.
System.IO.FileFormatException: Input file or data stream does not conform to the expected file format specification. ---> System.IO.FileFormatException: Input file or data stream does not conform to the expected file format specification. at MS.Internal.Text.TextInterface.Native.Util.ConvertHresultToException(Int32 hr) at MS.Internal.Text.TextInterface.Font.CreateFontFace() at MS.Internal.Text.TextInterface.Font.AddFontFaceToCache() at MS.Internal.Text.TextInterface.Font.GetFontFace() at System.Windows.Media.GlyphTypeface..ctor(Font font)
Note: It is not recommended to attempt this solution unless the problem occurs more than once. Sometimes an external variable can cause a "fluke" or one-time crash. This is intended to resolve a recurring issue.
Solution: Update the Install Platform Update for Windows 7 SP1
Install the "Platform Update for Windows 7 SP1" to fix the problem.
