While many Logos features work perfectly while offline, some require an active Internet connection. This article shows those features that require an online collection - either to work at all or where working offline reduces functionality.
Note: Customers on a monthly subscription need to log in at least once a month to get their updated licenses (after the subscription charges). Annual subscriptions require an internet connection at least once a year.
Often Logos will show features grayed out when unavailable for any reason including lack of Internet connectivity.
Note: Some of the details of the user interface, particularly relating to whether some icons are shown or not, will depend on whether you have disabled the use of the Internet in Program Settings or if you are actually disconnected from the Internet.
Overview of Features Requiring an Online Connection
This table shows which features that are not available at all when offline and those with reduced functionality when offline.

Features with reduced functionality when offline
All Search
When offline, the All Search runs a Precise Search instead of a Smart Search.
Books Search
The Books Search works when offline but does not return any results for books you have removed from your device and are accessing in the Logos Cloud, or for books that are part of your Print Library that you don't own in Logos or Verbum.
Engaging with Your Documents
Documents you have created, or received from others, are downloaded to your computer when online and are fully accessible when offline. However, without an active Internet connection you are unable to access documents shared by others - either in specific groups or publicly available. The Add to your docs button is disabled.
Similarly, you are unable to share documents with others - and the Share button is disabled.
The Trash button at the bottom left of the Docs Tab takes you to a website where you can view and restore documents that were deleted and you want to restore. While the button is still present when working offline, if you click it you will see a message in a browser stating that the page can't be displayed because you are not connected to the Internet.
Factbook Tags
Working offline impacts the functionality of Factbook Tags, but some functions still work. In Bibles, Factbook Tags are visible - either offline or online - but when offline (on the right below) it is not possible to view Factbook Tags made by other users.
Similarly, it is not possible to add Factbook Tags when offline.
And, because it's not possible to see Factbook Tags when offline, it is not possible to request that they are removed when offline either.
In non-Bible books, such as Commentaries, Factbook Tags are not available at all when offline.
Media Search
A Media Search will work when offline, but not all the sections present when online (shown on the left) appear when working offline (shown on the right).
Sermon / Homily Document
While you can create and modify Sermon or Homily documents while offline, some functionality is not available. You are not able to go into Preaching mode, to Export the document to online services or use the Smart Assistant. And because any slides you have created make use of the Media tool (which requires an active Internet connection), all slides appear as blank when offline.
What you actually see depends on whether you have disabled Internet access in Program Settings or you are actually disconnected from the Internet.
With it disabled in Program Settings, the options are either greyed out or tell you the feature requires the Internet.
If you are disconnected from the Internet, the features look as though they should work but flag an error when you try to use them.
Text Comparison Tool
The Text Comparison tool works offline if comparing the surface text of Bibles. When working online you can access the Interlinear view of the tool (shown on the left) but this is not available when working offline (shown on the right).
