Even if you are experienced in using Logos for research and writing, have you wondered whether the AI Tools in Logos can augment and extend what you are able to do? Maybe to find some additional insight or to discover books in your library that have something significant to say about the question or topic you are studying?
In this article, we'll work through an example, looking at how the doctrine of the Trinity developed, to see some of the added value that Logos AI Tools can bring to this type of research.

We will start with an All Search, asking the question How did the doctrine of the Trinity develop?
- The synopsis section shows a summary of the most relevant search results with links to the supporting articles.
- The copy button enables you to copy this synopsis to add to what you are writing on this topic.
- The Study Assistant link enables you to continue the conversation in that tool.
- Click one of the linked results to examine the article itself in more detail. Once you have opened an article, you can Summarize it to help determine whether it will be useful to your study.
Scroll down in the Search panel to see individual search results - which are not just from your own library but the entire Logos catalog. Click Summarize for any individual search result to see if it's likely to be useful for your research. If so, you can then open it (or purchase it if you don't already own the book) to continue your study.
One of the things shown in the synopsis was that the Church Fathers were very involved in the early development of this doctrine. One way of exploring this further is with the Study Assistant tool - which you can access by clicking the link at the bottom right of the synopsis. This will open the Study Assistant with the original question and the synopsis prepopulated. From here you can continue the conversation by asking follow-up questions.
Another way of exploring the question further is to switch to a Books Search and run the original search on a collection of the Ante-Nicene Fathers. This operates in exactly the same way as the All Search – you just need to select the Smart Search option first – and focuses in on this particular period.
And, just as in the All Search, you can summarize individual results and open the linked articles for further study.
