If you've ever wondered whether a book or article would help you answer a question or address a specific topic you're interested in, the new Summarization sidebar is here to help. Now, Logos provides the ability to create an AI-generated summary of an article - either in a book you're reading or as a result of a Smart Search.
When generating a summary in a book, the article picker allows you to choose what "level" in the book's hierarchy you want to summarize – either the article itself or higher heading levels containing the article you are reading.
Note: This feature is available in all subscription tiers.

Summarize an Article
-
Select the Summarize tool from the Tools menu.
Note: If you have previously used the summarize tool in this resource, the last summarized article may appear in the sidebar when you open it.
-
Select the article you want to summarize. In the case of a Bible, this is typically a chapter.
- Click Summarize.
Note: There is a reminder, at the bottom of the tool, that the summary is AI-generated. If you hover your mouse over the question mark at the bottom, you will see a popup reminding you that the results may not be accurate and need to be checked.
To get a wider perspective, you can choose to summarize the whole book. To do this:
- Click Summarize another article and select the book
- Click Summarize again to summarize the entire biblical book.
The example above shows generating summaries within a Bible. But the same can be done for other types of books:
- In commentaries, you can select the level you want to summarize, allowing you to focus on the passage you're studying or get a wider context.
- The same options apply in dictionaries and monographs.
Summarize Search Results
The summarization capability is also available for the results of Smart Searches.
Click Summarize at the top right of a search result (you need to hover your cursor over that area for the button to appear) to see the summary.

Summarize an Article
There are two ways to access the summarize tool from within a resource - via the selection menu or from the panel menu.
Whichever option you choose, you will then be asked to select the article you wish to summarize - and, within a Bible, this is done on whole chapters. Select the chapter to generate the summary.
There is a reminder, at the bottom of the tool, that the summary is AI-generated. If you tap this, you will see a popup reminding you that the results may not be accurate and need to be checked.
You can tap the icon at the top left of the tool to copy the summary to your clipboard.
