Print Friendly and PDF

What is a Book Link?

A "book link" enables instructors to add links for required textbooks and chapters to their modules and assignments.  Book links leverage the power of LTI enabling students to quickly transition from the school Learning Management System to their assigned reading.

Creating book links is a skill each instructor should have, and the following instructions will serve as an initial guide.  Keep in mind that the process will vary depending on which LMS is being used.  (Navigate to your LMS below)

Creating Book Links in Canvas

Start by identifying the module you would like to add a book link to.  Next, click the + in the top right to add an item.

Choose to Add "External Tool" to the module.

Choose the "Logos tool" from the list.  You will be prompted to create the desired Logos link.  Choose "Book" at the top.

The "Resource" drop-down menu will enable you to choose one of your course textbooks.  The "Contents Entry" drop-down menu will enable you to choose a location within the book's table of contents.

After choosing the correct book and location, you can create the link and choose to "Add Item" to your module.  If the link has been added effectively, you will see it listed within the module.  Next, you can rename, move, and publish the item. Students can now click the link to start their reading in the Logos web app.
