Inclusive Access: Adding URL Links to a Course

Print Friendly and PDF

What is a URL Link?

A "URL link" enables instructors to add links for very specific locations, tools, and layouts in Logos to their modules and assignments.  URL links leverage the power of LTI enabling students to quickly transition from the school Learning Management System to powerful tools in the Logos web app.

Creating URL links is a skill each instructor should have, and the following instructions will serve as an initial guide.  Keep in mind that the process will vary depending on which LMS is being used.

Step 1: Create the URL

Sharing a URL from the Logos Web App enables other users to open and view exactly what you see in your browser.  This is the expected behavior as long as the other users have access to the same books and tools.  As a result, you can open to specific verses, sentences, etc., and the URL will capture that location.  You can add additional searches and tools, and again, the URL will capture those tools and their content.

Start by opening the books and/or tools you want others to open in the Logos Web App, and make sure the locations and content are as desired.  Next, find the URL at the top of your browser.

Copy or save this URL for use in the next step.

Step 2: Add the URL Link to Your Course

(Navigate to your LMS below)

Start by identifying the module you would like to add a URL link to.  Next, click the + in the top right to add an item.

Choose to Add "External Tool" to the module.

Choose the "Logos tool" from the list.  You will be prompted to create the desired Logos link.  Choose "URL" at the top and paste in the URL from the Logos Web App.

Click "Create link" and "Add Item" to the module.  If the link has been added effectively, you will see it listed within the module.  Next, you can rename, move, and publish the item. Students can now click the link to open up the exact locations and tools you require.
