Logos gives you several options for starting a new reading plan. Follow a featured plan curated by experts, generate one based on your goals and timeline, or build a custom plan that fits your unique study journey.
-
Click New on the Reading Plans Dashboard card.
-
Click New plan at the top of the Reading Plan Manager.
-
Click the Documents icon
and click New to expand the menu. Select Reading Plan.
This opens the Start a Reading Plan wizard.
-
In an open book, navigate to the Tools tab on the toolbar and select Start reading plan.
-
You can open your Library and find the book you want to create a reading plan for. Right-click the book (avoid clicking the title as that will open the resource instead of the menu) and select Start reading plan. Logos opens a new customizable Reading Plan document based on your selected title.
When you create a new plan, Logos displays two options of standard Reading Plans for you to choose from: the Bible (1) or another book (2). It also provides options for you to build a custom plan (3), join a plan that has been set up in a Faithlife Group you belong to (4) or select a predefined plan (5). We will focus on creating standard plans in Bibles or other books from your Library.
When setting up a Bible reading plan, you have three options:
-
Choosing a particular section of the Bible - with the default being the entire Bible. Other options are available through the dropdown menu
-
Selecting specific Bible passages to read
-
Specifying a topic and allowing Logos to determine which passages to include
If you want to select a different Bible version, click the down arrow to the right of the currently selected one.
If you select the Topic option, enter the topic you are interested in and click the Generate button. Logos will use AI to select a set of relevant passages (a maximum of 31 readings) which you can then modify or refine until you are satisfied
Note
Note: The Topic option is only available to subscribers
Once you have specified the passages you want to read, click the Next button in the Wizard to set up your reading schedule.
If you select the book option, you will then be able to select the book you want to read from the next panel
You can then choose to either read the whole book or a custom portion. Selecting a custom portion automatically removes the front matter from your reading plan and allows you to choose specific chapters to add.
Once you have selected the book (or part of book) you want to read, you can set your reading pace.
If you want a defined reading schedule, choose the day on which you want to start reading (1). Logos defaults the first reading session to today. Click to select a different starting date. Then, select the day(s) on which you want to read (2) and, if you wish, select the option to send a reminder to your mobile app (3). You can select the notification time that works best for you.
Alternatively, if you want to read at your own pace, select No schedule (4).
Once you have selected your desired options, click Next.
If you chose the scheduled option, you will be able to choose between finishing by a particular date (1), reading a specific numbers of minutes each day (2), or splitting the reading into a particular number of sessions (3). This is shown on the left below.
If you chose the non-scheduled option, you will be able to choose between reading a number of minutes each day (1) or splitting the reading into a number of sessions (2). This is shown on the right below.
When you have made your selections, click Finish to create the reading plan.
The new plan will be shown with the details you requested.
To edit a plan, click the three vertical dotes on your plan in the Reading Plan Manager and select Plan Details.

Complete a reading somewhere other than Logos, like a physical book? Don’t worry, you can still maintain your streak. Open the Reading Plan Manager, find the reading and click the three vertical dots to the right. Click Mark as if read on time to restore your streak.
If you fall behind on a Reading Plan, Logos allows you to catch up by clicking Skip to latest. This marks all the missed reading as Skipped and allows you to pick up the next scheduled reading.

To view a Reading Plan, open the Reading Plan Manager from the Dashboard card or the Tools menu. Click a plan name to open it.
When you select the current reading session, a blue ribbon marks the beginning of the reading. If your reading contains multiple sections, an additional blue ribbon appears at the end of the section; click the passage link to navigate to the next section.
Mark the reading as done by checking the box in the Reading Plan document or by clicking Mark done in the blue ribbon at the end of the selected reading.

To share your Reading Plan with any Logos user, open the plan, and click Share. From here, you can choose to keep the plan Private, Read together with a group, or share it As a template.
To share your Reading Plan with your group, choose either of the second two options. Choosing Read together allows you to share with anyone who has the link or with a specific group. Choosing As a template allows you to share the plan as a public document available on the Public tab in the Documents menu. Click Copy link to get a shareable URL and then click Save.
In the Reading Plan manager, you can delete a Reading Plan by clicking the three vertical dots and selecting Delete from the menu.
If you delete a Reading Plan by mistake, you can recover it at documents.logos.com. Expand the dropdown menu marked Available and select Deleted. Click the Reading Plan you want to restore and click the Undelete button.
